Philip Kimpton is the First Assistant Secretary for Resilience and Protective Security Division at the Department of Home Affairs. The division works to protect Australia from national security threats and supports national resilience through effective coordination, policy and strategy development, legislative reform, regional cooperation and operational delivery. Mr Kimpton commenced in this role in August 2024.
Prior to joining Home Affairs, Mr Kimpton previously worked in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the Defence Intelligence Organisation (DIO) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Mr Kimpton served overseas twice, as the Political and Economic Counsellor at the Australian High Commission in Malaysia (2015-2018) and First Secretary and Legal Adviser at Australia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva (2009-2012).
