Appointed Defence Chief Information Officer (CIO), in August 2023, Chris Crozier leads the Defence Digital Group (DDG).
Chris led the Group’s transformation from Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) to DDG in November 2023 and as a key part of the transformation, developed and implemented the Golden Thread – the overarching modus operandi that aligns DDG with SAFe agile practices and guides capability flow through the organisation.
In 2025, Chris was awarded the Federal Government Technology Leader Award by iTnews for his leadership and execution of DDG’s digital capability modernisation efforts, particularly through the launch of the 2024 Defence Digital Strategy & Roadmap (DDSR).
In his previous role based in Singapore as Group CIO for Orica International - the world’s largest manufacturer of explosives for mining and civil construction, Chris was accountable for global digital technology strategies and operations covering business (IT), customer (IoT), and manufacturing (Operational technology) systems including the governance of Orica’s digital ecosystem, architecture, data, and cyber posture.
Before his tenure as Group CIO, Chris was the Vice President of Orica Australia Pacific which contributed 60% of Orica’s global EBIT, and held both Chief Digital Officer and Global Vice President Supply Chain titles.
Prior to Orica, Chris spent nine years at BHP as Chief Procurement Officer and Global CIO also based in Singapore.
Chris holds a Chemical Engineering Degree (Honours First Class) and Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
