Description

Change management in highly regulated environments is rarely about the methodology — it's about the gap between what organizations plan and what gets adopted. This workshop brings together practitioners to tackle that gap head-on.

Drawing on firsthand experience establishing an OCM discipline at Capital One/Discover Financial Services — including the successful migration of eight critical risk and compliance programs to ServiceNow's Integrated Risk Management platform — this session moves beyond theory to examine what governance structures, stakeholder engagement models, and product management approaches hold up when the complexity is real and the stakes are high.

The workshop opens with an honest look at the most common failure patterns: where change initiatives stall, where executive sponsorship erodes, and why technology-led transformations so often underestimate the human and process dimensions. Participants will examine governance frameworks that work across highly regulated environments — including Three Lines of Defense adaptations for data governance, accountability structures that survive leadership transitions, and adoption models that embed change into operating rhythms rather than treating it as a phase.

The centerpiece of the session is a live refinement exercise. Attendees will work through a complex, multi-stakeholder change scenario — applying product management principles to define scope, sequence decisions, and surface hidden dependencies — then stress-test their approach against real resistance patterns and regulatory constraints.

Participants will leave with messaging frameworks and assets that have proven effective in executive and practitioner audiences alike, along with a practical lens for diagnosing where their own change initiatives are most at risk.

This session is designed for risk, compliance, and technology leaders who are accountable for change outcomes — not just change delivery.
